Lately, air fryers have been giving Instant Pots a run for their money by helping home cooks get a delicious dinner on the table with ease. So, it was just a matter of time before Instant Brands, the company behind our beloved Instant Pots, released an air fryer of their own. Last week, they released the Instant Vortex Plus, and we’re already head over heels for it!

Traditionally, an air fryer is good for one thing and one thing only: frying food. By circulating hot air around the food, they do an exceptional job at replicating the mouthfeel of fried food (without the negative health benefits of excess oil). Although we’re definitely not complaining about their magical frying powers, that’s about all air fryers were good for—until now.

Looking for new healthy air fryer recipes?

With the Instant Vortex Plus' 7-in-1 feature, we can finally go from air-frying our veggie chips to perfectly cooking rotisserie chickens (yep, it even comes with a spit and forks, a rotisserie basket, and even a rotisserie fetch tool) in a single appliance. Additionally, the air fryer has the functionality to roast, broil, bake, reheat, and dehydrate. And the best part? It can do all of this while still being small enough to fit on your kitchen counter!

Available at Walmart for $119, the Instant Vortex Plus arguably gives more bang for your buck than any other air fryer on the market. And, if you needed another reason to buy it, the Vortex is equipped with a basket that rotates so you don’t have to worry about shaking the drawer for evenly cooked fried avocado slices or crispy cumin-spiced sweet potato fries.

Not to mention, if you aren’t one for pre-set cooking times, you can customize (and save) the time and temperature for your favorite recipes. Say hello to perfectly fried chicken, just the way you like it. Every. Single. Time.

26,000 Amazon shoppers are fans of this 7-in-1 air fryer: ‘Outstanding in every way’

Our team is dedicated to finding and telling you more about the products and deals we love. If you love them too and decide to purchase through the links below, we may receive a commission. Pricing and availability are subject to change.

Whether you love cooking or hate it, no chef can deny that cooking can be time-consuming. And while there are plenty of gadgets that can speed up your time in the kitchen, there is one hero product that every kitchen deserves — an air fryer.

Air fryers are must-haves for a few reasons. Not only do they give food that delicious fried texture, but, since they cook with hot air instead of oil, the food is better for you.

Air fryers also save you the hassle of pulling out and having to clean several pots and pans. They also are ideal for heating up leftovers and cooking frozen foods with minimal effort. You can use them to cook everything from steak to seafood. Another benefit of air fryers is that they usually have multiple functions, and they don’t have to be pre-heated.

If you want one for yourself, look no further than the Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven 7 in 1.

This air fryer goes beyond your standard model, thanks to its added capabilities. It can toast, bake, broil, roast, dehydrate and rotisserie food with ease. The Instant Vortex also has 𔄙-step EvenCrisp TechnologyTM [which] allows you to achieve a crispy outside and tender inside.”

Plus, the surface of this product wipes clean and most of its accessories are dishwasher safe, including the drip pan and the cooking trays, so the clean-up is minimal.

The Instant Vortex has received over 34,000 ratings (with over 26,000 of them being five stars), and has earned an Amazon’s Choice badge. As for the reviews, they pretty much speak for themselves.

One happy customer called the product “outstanding in every way.” Another said, “the thing performs [flawlessly]. The food tastes amazing! Must BUY!”

While some reviewers were surprised at its size — it can hold 10 quarts — most deemed this air fryer a worthy addition to their counter. If you’re looking for something a little smaller, you can also shop the brand’s 4-in-1 air fryer.

Snag the Instant Vortex on Amazon right now and get cooking. You can also snag this kitchen essential at Walmart.

Instant Pot Just Released Their Own 7-in-1 Air Fryer

In true Instant Pot style, it has more than one function. It can even cook a four-pound rotisserie chicken!

Instant Pots have been everywhere the past few years—thanks to their ability to cook a roast to tender perfection in under an hour, perform tricks like heating up leftovers, and make recipes for every meal, home cooks have been using this handy countertop appliance for everything. One huge draw of the Instant Pot is that it can perform a variety of functions it’s a pressure cooker and a slow cooker that can also sauté and cook rice, beans, meat, and poultry (and more).

Since the Instant Pot craze first started, only air fryers have come close to achieving the same level of popularity. Now, all of that might change, since Instant Pot just released their very own brand of air fryer, the Instant Vortex Plus. If you’ve been eyeing an air fryer, snagging one made by a trusted brand like Instant Pot might be the best way to try out the trend.

Normally, you can add the Instant Vortex Plus to your cart at Walmart for $119.00, but Walmart is having a few deals July 14 through July 17 that just so happens to coincide with Prime Day. Even though the Instant Vortex Plus is brand new, it&aposs going to be available for $99 during the sale. Considering all of the functions it has, $119 is already a good price compared to similar high-quality air fryers, but $99 is a definite deal. The sale begins on Sunday, July 14 and ends Wednesday, July 17, so make sure you take advantage of it while it lasts!

The Instant Vortex Plus has more than just one function (it actually has seven). In addition to air frying, this countertop appliance has six other built-in programs, just like the Instant Pot. You can roast, broil, bake, reheat, and dehydrate, and there’s also a “rotate” option included for making your own rotisserie chicken.

Similar to other air fryer models, the Instant Vortex can replace your oven in a lot of different ways. Of course, it’s main draw is frying foods like pickle chips and french fries with just a tiny amount of oil (air fryers use circulating hot air to get your food crispy), but it can also be used to ke” desserts, reheat leftovers, and dehydrate fruits and veggies for later snacking.

We might be most excited about the ability to make our own rotisserie chickens at home. The Instant Vortex includes a rotisserie spit and forks, a rotisserie basket, and a tool for removing your rotisserie-cooked meals. According to the product description, the Instant Vortex’s 10-quart capacity is large enough to cook a four-pound rotisserie-style chicken ‘til it’s juicy and tender with a perfectly crispy skin. That’s more than enough chicken to get you through a couple of meals, especially if you dress it up in other recipes.

Rotisserie chicken is just the tip of the ice berg. Just like a regular Instant Pot, the possibilities for what you can cook in the Instant Vortex Plus are only limited by your creativity. Since it&aposs brand new, you&aposll have some experimenting to do, but like the Instant Pot, we&aposre guessing it&aposs only a matter of time until there are hundreds of recipes out there for you to try.

Air Fryers Are on Super Sale Right Now—Including the Instant Vortex for $50

Air fryers are popular for a reason: They are awesome. The kitchen device can cook up mealtime favorites like fries, wings, meatballs, onion rings, and more in no time at all. But the best part is, air fryers use only a fraction of the oil used in traditional fryers, meaning you can make all these snacks just a little bit lighter.

This Black Friday and Cyber Monday, treat yourself or someone you love to the “it” kitchen appliance of the season. Here are five air fryers to put in your cart right now.

+ Air Fryer

The Instant Pot ® Duo Crisp™ + Air Fryer is the best of all possible worlds. With 11-in-1 functionality it does everything a regular Instant Pot does, but swap out the pressure cooker lid for the innovative air fryer lid, and you’ve got a whole new set of cooking techniques available — all fast, easy and at the touch of a button.

Now you have every cooking method available at your fingertips. The pressure cooker lid offers 6 wet cooking functions: use it to quickly pressure cook, sauté, steam, slow cook, sous vide and warm. The Air Fryer lid offers 5 crisp cooking functions: use it to quickly air fry, roast, bake, broil and dehydrate.

The Smart Programs make it fun and easy for anyone — from novice to chef — to prepare great healthy meals fast. And the bright displays, easy-to-use controls and easy-to-read icons that indicate cooking status make selecting programs and making adjustments simple — even during cooking. Customize the time and temperature selects for total control and save your presets so your favorite meals can be made the way you like them. And the Delay Start function ensures dinner is ready when you want it to be, and not before.

The Instant Vortex Plus looks good. It has a compact design, a stainless-steel front and an easy-to-navigate touchscreen panel up top. The door feels wobbly, but that's because it's removable. Release a latch inside the frame, and you can remove the door for cleaning. That's great for cleaning up crumbs.

Speaking of cleanup, all the attachments included (air fryer basket, trays, rotisserie spit parts) are dishwasher-safe. Points to Instant for making my after-dinner routine shorter in that regard.

My first gripe has to do with the digital display. Plug in the air fryer, and the display reads OFF. Set the mode and temperature, and the display reads ON while preheating the oven. I would much prefer to see PRE or a real-time count up to the requested temperature. This isn't a dealbreaker, I just found the display a bit uninformative for a product that heats up to 400 degrees.

That leads me to my second complaint. That 400-degree temperature limit is a bit disappointing, given that more than a few frozen foods recommend heating your oven to 425. Several other countertop ovens, like the Panasonic FlashXpress , heat up to 500 degrees.

The folks at Instant told me that the decision to stop at 400 degrees was based on customer feedback and research.

The digital display on the Instant Vortex Plus shows the temperature once it's preheated.

While you're cooking, the display alternates between temperature and time, and includes a helpful beep in air fry and roast mode with the corresponding message "Turn food" so you can flip what you're cooking or swap the top and bottom trays.

You'll also need to be careful when you remove the air fry basket or rotisserie accessories as they get very hot while cooking. That can be frustrating if you take out your food only to realize it needs to go back in for a few more minutes (because you couldn't cook it at 425).

We Tried the Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid Attachment, And Here&rsquos What We Thought

The brains behind the beloved Instant Pot have developed a new function for the trusted weeknight dinner master, and it might shake up the appliance game. The Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid promises to crisp food with the press of a button, essentially eliminating the need for a separate Air Fryer appliance. If it performs as well as it claims to, your dinner can cook, tenderize, and reach a lovely shade of golden brown, all without leaving the pot. We had to see how this thing worked for ourselves, so we tasked our all-star mom, Nicole McLaughlin, with testing it out.

All in all, Nicole had a rave review of the product. She believes it really does satisfy the needs of an Air Fryer without having to buy another space-wasting appliance. It doesn’t cook large batches of food which could be a red flag for those feeding large families, but for those with smaller families, this product might be a good fit.

While the lid can serve several functions (broiling, roasting, baking, reheating, and dehydrating), Nicole thinks its greatest purpose is definitely providing the ability to air fry food without needing to purchase an Air Fryer. Thus, the air-frying function is ideal for recipes that call for browning after the food is pressure cooked. We’re looking at you, Instant Pot Pasta dishes.

The lid also comes with a protective cover that Nicole was impressed to find doubles as a trivet for setting the lid on during cooking. Another perk: The timer on the lid doesn’t begin counting down until the air fryer preheats to the desired temperature.

The air fry basket is pretty small, so plan to cook food in batches if you’re making a large portion. For larger amounts of food that need to be flipped and cooked, a stainless tray is included to insert into the fry basket, allowing for two-tiered cooking. This gives you the benefit of cooking twice the amount of food, although it does take “quite a bit of finesse” to remove, Nicole notes. The tray allows for a steady circulation of hot air, and is also used for the dehydrating function. On the plus side, both the basket and the racks are dishwasher-safe, making clean up a breeze.

It’s important to note that the lid is only available for the 6-quart Instant Pot. If you have an 8-quart appliance, you’re out of luck for the time being. Additionally, the lid and the base cannot be plugged in at the same time.

Pleasantly surprised, Nicole found the lid to be quite powerful. She was also happy to find how quickly the pot can reach high temperatures. The food she cooked using the Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid achieved perfect crispiness and even some browning. It’s greatest benefit, however, also happens to be it’s least desirable feature: the size. While it replaces the need for a second large appliance, this attachment will take up a pretty big chunk of your kitchen storage real estate. Plus, it’s not exactly cheap. The suggested retail price of $140 is comparable to some of the better air fryers on the market, but luckily, Williams Sonoma has it on sale right now for $79.95.

What can I cook in an Instant Pot?

The best Instant Pots offer a range of different cooking methods, which means there's a plethora of different dishes that can be created in Instant Pots and multi-cookers. Slow cooking means you can use cheaper but tougher cuts of meat and cook them low and slow to make casseroles and stews, while pressure cooking speeds up cooking times, making it great for ribs and chicken wings. However, you can even bake cakes, air fry foods like fries and even cook hard-boiled eggs in an Instant Pot. You can find an extensive variety of recipes at

Air fryer basics

An air fryer can make crispy, delicious food with little to no oil — most recipes require a tablespoon of oil or less. Instead, an air fryer employs convection technology to constantly circulate hot air around food. It’s a healthy alternative to deep-frying for people who want to trim fat from their diet without giving up their favorite crunchy, fried foods. In addition to “frying,” some air fryers can be used to steam, roast, reheat and bake.

Air fryer pros

The majority of air fryers hold between 1.5 and 2.5 pounds of food, which translates to two to four servings. This makes them suitable for couples and smaller households — unless you are okay with cooking in batches or paying a bit more for a larger air fryer with a 3-pound capacity.

Many air fryers have divided baskets so you can cook two types of food at once. For example, if you want to air fry chicken nuggets and breaded dill pickles at the exact same time, you can do so. This broadens your options, but bear in mind that the quantity of each type of food will be smaller if you subdivide your interior cooking space. Notably, the fry basket and other parts of an air fryer are typically made of nonstick material that is easy to clean.

Busy families like the fact that air fryers heat up quickly. For most recipes, there is no need to preheat the machine, so you can add in your ingredients and serve them soon thereafter. And let’s not forget the fact that you can enjoy healthy versions of your favorite “fried” foods without the oil of traditional deep frying. Some air fryers capture and drain excess fat from food for an even healthier eating experience.
